I’ve been hinting at it all week, but I’m truly feeling excited for summer this year. Honestly, it’s a mix of emotions—exciting, yet a little scary and overwhelming, as I’m not totally sure where I’ll be spending most of the summer. Plans are still coming together, but as soon as things are more solid, I’ll share more!
With upcoming travel and both life and work calendars filling up quickly, I’m feeling extra grateful for new opportunities. Change has always been something I struggle with—it’s hard and often uncomfortable—but I’m doing my best to embrace it, take things day by day, and focus on the positives instead of the unknowns.
We’ve been traveling quite a bit lately, and while I love sharing so much of life with you all, I also hold back sometimes. The online space can be…a lot. And as open as I am, there are parts of life—especially family—that I try to keep a bit more private. My family is incredibly special to me, and not everyone loves being in the spotlight, so I do my best to respect that.
That said, we’ve been in Miami this week, and wow, the sunshine has been amazing. Though I definitely need to stay shaded—I burn so quickly, even with sunscreen! I think it’s time I fully commit to wearing hats and sunnies every day.
I’ve been working while here, but it’s also been so nice to spend time with Mom, Dad, Asher, my little guy Oslo, and of course, Creighton, who always keeps things lively.
Quick side note: before I got here, Creighton set off the building’s fire alarms at 9 p.m. trying to cook a steak. Sirens, evacuation announcements, the whole deal. Luckily, it was under control quickly—but what a scene!
Anyway, Miami has been sunny and warm, and we’ve all enjoyed just being together, walking, and exploring.
I’ll be heading home soon, and then I’m off again in less than a week to shoot something fun and summery that’ll be hitting the site soon. I can’t wait to share!
Do you have any summer plans? Any trips you’re looking forward to? Or are you planning to keep it low-key? Honestly, a laid-back summer at home can be the best, especially if you’re in the Midwest or on the East Coast—there’s just something extra special about those summers.
That’s all for today—wishing you all a relaxing and happy Sunday!

1. Things i’m Loving, Wanting, and Excited to Try.
reading…What Can I Bring?: Recipes to Help You Live Your Guest Life by Casey Elsass. Excited for this cookbook! Ordered and will share more next week! Casey has the best recipes!
this is so cute… My cousin Maggie (also an HBH team member) is about to have a baby. If you need name ideas, read the comment section. I would love to hear your favorite baby names! For a girl, I’ve always loved my brother Malachi’s (Kai) name. I would call her Khai. I think it’s so cute! My mom likes the name Zephyr (west wind) for a boy or a girl.
using all the time…Melamine Serving Tray & Bowls. So Oslo spills everything! My mom loves this serving piece for snacks, taco night, and of course, outdoor entertaining. It’s so practical for anyone with kids.
everything in my cart (low)…the Margo Tee 2 Pack is such a good buy. These tees are great basics! This Free People Half-Slip Skirt would be super cute for a pool or beach day! You could pair it with the brand’s button-up vest.
This sleeveless top from &Other Stories (I would get the butter yellow shade) is cute too. And then, a very fun strawberry graphic tee!
listening to….
loving…everyday salads! Very into a salad with dinner right now. One option is my strawberry salad. Another is my sesame arugula salad. Both are great as we head into summer. What salads do you make ALL THE TIME? Like, what’s your staple salad? I’d love to know the one you make on repeat.
shopping…Mid-Tier Brands That Give Luxury – Without the Designer Price Tag. CUTE! Asher and I love Staud, Toteme, Sézane, Tory Burch, Coach, Ganni, and of course, Frame!
reading…How Lauryn Bosstick Gets It Done.
everything in my cart (beauty)…all I’ve been wearing while in Miami, aside from my usual skincare, is sunscreen! My favorite is the EltaMD UV Clear Face Sunscreen SPF 46.
Everyone keeps talking about the Theraface Depuffing Wand, and I want to give it a try too. This features cold and heat facial treatments in one portable device for use at home and on-the-go. It’s meant to decrease puffiness and dark circles under the eyes and provide enhanced radiance.
watching…In The Bag with Olivia Rodrigo. These are always cute to watch! Also, Bella Hadid’s Favorite Beauty Routines. I’m not watching TV these days, are you?
burning…I have a serious issue with candles. I can’t stop buying them! I ordered the Trudon Summer Haze Candle and Sail Under The Trees the second they popped up on FWRD. I’ll let you know how they are soon!
everything in my cart (high)…if you are spending summer in the Hamptons, Palm Beach or anywhere costal, these Chanel Tweed and Metal Sandals will be perfect. Fun, cute, flashy and summery. Speaking of summer, I have my eyes on the Prada Buckle Leather Bucket Bag in white/black. Bucket bags are always ideal in the summer and the white leather is pretty!
mixing up…. Been doing this for YEARS. Such a good trick and fun too!
following…Sag Harbor Florist. Summertime floral inspiration!
baking on repeat…Layered Raspberry Scones. I can’t stop making these!

4. Summer Travel Ideas.

Everyone seems to be talking about summer 2025 travel and it is so fun to see all the locations. Going to share a few that are of interest to me!
Locations in the states:
The Six Bells Hotel in Rosendale, New York – just opened, and it’s cute! Perfect for those who love a vintage vibe. Very historic!
Bedford Post Inn Bedford, New York – this is a great weekend getaway, especially for those within driving distance. Super cute and I love all the open space!
Europe/Greece/Mexico:
Gundari Resort– the most beautiful hotel in Greece. Wow, so pretty. I would love to travel here sometime soon. I know my family is looking to head to Greece someday. I’m definitely voting we stay here!
Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Costa Rica- located above the Pacific on Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo. A that looks simply stunning. We’ve been to Costa Rica, but I wouldn’t mind having a second experience staying here!
The Rosewood Mayakoba, Mexico – a 45-minute drive from the Cancun airport, you’ll find Mayakoba. A stunning new Rosewood hotel, which we love! The reviews on this hotel and location are all 5-star!
My parents and some of my siblings just stayed in central Mexico at The Rosewood in San Miguel de Allende and loved it! They said the grounds were stunning and the accommodations were incredible. They stayed in one of their residences.
Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort, Hawaii – shockingly, we’ve never been to Hawaii, but it might be time! Yet another Rosewood Resort. Kona Village looks so relaxing and beautiful!
1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, Hawaii – another Hawaii spot that so many people LOVE. We’ve stayed at several 1 Hotels, but this one might just be the most beautiful yet.
And some related reading to spark even more summer travel! . Saint-Tropez, Sardinia, Italy, Cotswolds, UK, Copenhagen, Comporta, Portugal, and Morocco are being added to my list!
– Luxury Hotel & Spa In The Cotswolds. I’ve never been to the UK! A summer trip here looks nostalgic!
Also, . I want to try the drive from Nashville, Tennessee, to Asheville, North Carolina. And then Newport, Rhode Island, to Portland, Maine.

Hi-have a wonderful week. I have been enjoying what I simply call a Big Salad. Basically, it’s seasonal greens, fresh & roasted veg, a protein like beans or tofu & pickled something (pickled sweet & hot peppers are the favourite right now). The tofu is always cooked, can be either hot or cold, sometimes it’s Buffalo sauced or barbecue sauced (Andy Nelson’s Bama barbecue sauce is the best!. Usually a simple vinegrette for dressing, sometimes leftover grains are tossed in. It’s a good way to keep salad interesting & clean out the fridge at the same time-plus it’s flexible!
Summer travel-Pittsburgh & Philadelphia in July & early August then back to Copenhagen & Stockholm in late September with a quick side trip to Berlin Germany for the end of Oktoberfest.
Hi Dale,
Thanks so much for reading! The “big salad” sounds pretty delicious, thanks for sharing! Have a great time on your summer travels and especially to Germany, sounds awesome! xx
This is the 1st time l read your letters omg so nice and cool to read it. Enjoy Miami! And thanks for sharing such a beautiful family moments
Hi Dale,
Sounds delicious! And quite similar to what I do 🙂
Just a little sidenote (you probably know that, but just in case): If you want to visit the Oktoberfest, you’d have to go to Munich 🙂
Cobb salad is my summer go to. It can be a complete dinner with lots of toppings, and everyone in my family loves it!
Yes!! Such a great idea, Emily! Thank you for sharing:) Have a great week ahead! xx
Great post! Enjoying your holiday pictures this week, 😊 enjoy your warm weather! Xx
Thanks so much, Kelly-Jane! I hope you had a wonderful weekend:) Happy Sunday! xT
Thanks for today’s post! I always look forward to reading your favorite things on Sunday. Also, love the family pics. Family is everything! Have a wonderful week!
Thanks so much, Diana:) I appreciate you taking the time to read each week and love to hear you enjoyed the content. Have the best week! xT
My favorite simple salads right now :sliced cucumber and avocados topped with a good olive oil and M salt(local here in Michigan and a perfect course grind of salt, pepper and garlic). Deconstructed Greek- can of chickpeas, rinsed, chopped up mini cucumbers, beets and red onion, mixed with a homemade red wine vinaigrette and topped with feta. So yummy 😊
Hey Jennifer,
Thanks for taking the time to read today. Love your salad recipes that you have been making, they both sound delish! Anything with fresh ingredients is always the best! Have a wonderful week ahead! xT
Hey just a heads up about your hotels section, Hawaii is part of the US. Also, would love to see a few suggestions for the other 48 states too! Any Colorado hotels that are amazing??

Why do you have to move out of your home for the renovation? In a recent NFT you said you were thinking of moving to Miami. Can’t you stay in your parents’ home? That would be less disruptive to your routine. Can’t wait for more reno updates!
Hey Barb,
Thanks for your questions, the renovation is just going to be invasive and I would like to be out of the space during that time. Staying with my parents would be a little overwhelming for everyone, especially completely taking over their kitchen for months at a time, it’s not very realistic. I’ll definitely keep you posted once I solidify my plans:) Happy Sunday! xx
Hi Teighan, you didn’t mention the community and community leaders in awhile. Did you select your community leaders?
Also, this is is the second week in a row you listed summer wedding look. Is someone you know getting married this summer? Will you be in a wedding party?
Its funny you recommend your brothers name as a girls name. How does he feel about that??
Thanks for all the recommendations. I’m excited to try!
Hi Elma,
Happy Sunday! Yes, the community leaders have been selected for awhile now, more to come on the community page once it is up and running, I will share how to sign up:) I personally don’t have any weddings to attend this summer, but it is wedding season so I like to share ideas for those who might be looking for outfits. I think Kai thinks it’s pretty cool, something different! Thanks for reading today! xxT
Maybe I missed it, but where have you traveled besides Miami recently ? I love seeing all your travel looks and restaurant recommendations. It’s a nice change from all the recipes.
Thanks, Sharon! I was in New York a lot recently and now Miami:) I try to keep this post on the blog updated, you might find it helpful:

Happy Sunday, Tieghan, Gerard fam, and HBH team! Thank you for sharing pics and stories from Miami. It is definitely on my bucket list. I’m so excited to see where you’ll be spending your summer! We will be staying close to home (Midwest), just swimming and walking the farmers markets. But as you say, there’s nothing like a Midwest summer! Have a wonderful week ahead, and thank you for all that you share with us!
Hey Jen,
Happy Sunday and thanks for reading:) Happy to share some of my time in Miami, glad you are enjoying it. Sounds like the perfect Midwest summer to me, thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great week ahead! xT
My staple salad is a Greek salad with grilled chicken. The Greek salads I had while visiting Greece were amazing! I love all your vacation destinations I really hope you actually go to at least one of them this summer. Travel when you are young, meet people, experience cultures, have fun!
Hi Kate,
Thanks so much for reading today! Yum, I bet the Greek salads in Greece were phenomenal, thanks for sharing:) Hope you are having a great start to your Sunday! xx
Hi Tieghan!
Here is a idea for summer – get an AirBnB in a few places that are on your list for a few weeks at a time – that way you can really see those places! Some of my friends kids did this right out of college or in between jobs. We plan to do it in early retirement. So that way, you can experience Nashville and North Caroline, etc (I highly recommend Brevard – kind of like a mini Boulder of the South!)
LOVE the grill recipes – so creative! Best, Susan
Hey Susan,
Thanks so much for reading today. Love this suggestion! Sounds like such a great way to explore different cities. I hope you are having a great Sunday! xx
Would love to know how the depuffing wand compares to them AUTEUR Definitive Eye Cream! Gotta keep on top of my dark circles too!
Hey Maria,
Yes! I can definitely keep you posted on that:) I hope you are off to a great Sunday! xx
Elta MD is a fantastic sunscreen line. I’ve been using it forever based on my derm’s recommendation. However, if you burn so easily, even with sunscreen, as you say, you should try one of their all mineral sunscreens. The one you are using is a hybrid one, with mineral and chemical components. An all mineral one would give you much more sun protection, especially if you apply it at least every two hours. Elta makes many all mineral facial (and body) sunscreens which are noncomedogenic. I think you might have better luck. The all mineral ones are not quite as cosmetically elegant as the 46 is, but when you’re sitting in the sun who really cares? Better than burning!
Hey Terri,
Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment! Thanks for the suggestion on the mineral sunscreen, I will definitely have to check that out, anything that gets me a little more coverage is super helpful! Thanks again and have a nice week! xx
